#RRBC 2020 Rave Review awards: BOOK OF THE YEAR

The year is 1970, and the story follows the two soldiers – impressionable Detroit teenagers – during their long night in a Listening Post (‘LP’), some 200 meters beyond the bunker line of the new firebase. Their assignment as a “human early warning system”, is to listen for enemy activity and forewarn the base of any potential dangers. As they were new to the “Iron Triangle” and its reputation, little did they know that units before them lost dozens of soldiers in this nightly high-risk task and referred to those assigned as “bait for the enemy” and “sacrificial lambs”.

Sitting in the pitch black tropical jungle – with visibility at less than two feet – John’s imagination takes hold throughout the agonizing night, and at times, transports him back to some of his most vivid childhood memories – innocent, but equally terrifying at the time.

As kids, we instinctively run as fast as we can to escape imaginary or perceived danger, but as soldiers, men are trained to conquer their fears and develop the confidence to stand their ground and fight. Running is not an option.

DetoursInTimeAudible

Another ‘author’s firsts’ challenge unlocked!  Detours in Time, the sci-fi time-travel novel, is now available in audiobook!  I have been so excited about this, and editing was a bear!  I think the narrator and I were both a little perfectionistic with this project. Hopefully that means a better product for the reader, err, listener.  Check out the audiobook, get your copy, or start your trial or membership at this link: Detours in Time Audiobook

Detours in Time has earned thirty positive reviews so far, and has earned critical acclaim:

2017- Earned the Literary Titan award

2018- Received Reader’s Favorite 5 star sea;

2018- Earned the title of ‘Official Selection’ in New Apple Summer E-book awards, Young Adult Sci-fi/Horror

Detours in Time pairs professor Milt Braddock with the younger Pinky (Tabitha), a dancer and artist, on a trip to the future that will test their resolve and their steadfast friendship.  Hailed by reviewers as “a great way to spend a few hours in both another world and another time!” –Tome Tender Book Blog

The narrator is Emory Stegmer, a musician, reporter, and Flight Software Lead with NASA.  He is fairly new to fiction narration, but his accents are the bomb!  You can check out his Twitter at @VAXHeadroom if you’re curious.

Detours in Time Birthday Sale!

When you’re so proud of your baby, you want to show it off, and sure, the cover’s pretty cool, but I’m responsible for what’s inside of it.  What better way to get eyes on my story than by having a celebration sale?

It’s been two years since this baby was loosed upon the world! I am a proud mama who wants more people to be exposed to it, so I’m celebrating with a Kindle Countdown deal. Detours in Time, my first full-length sci-fi novel, is only .99 for Kindle format in the US and UK until 6/23! It is also available in Kindle unlimited, if you have a subscription.  Please also share the deal with a friend today!

Detours in Time could be considered a fun read full of adventure, but it also involves some serious matters, such as what our world will be like in the future, what operating a cell phone is like to someone who was stuck in the late nineties, and where our loved ones might end up.  There is also sequel, and I’ll be offering that on a Countdown deal toward the end of this month.  Both have earned the Reader’s Favorite 5 star seal of approval.  Detours in Time has earned some appreciation and acclaim.  Thank you to those who have posted reviews!

“With some clever plot twists and attention to “future” details, Ms. Canepa has created a science fiction tale that is equal parts fun, fascinating, and thought-provoking!…An unlikely pair, their (Tabitha’s and Milt’s) personal takes on what they witness and their witty repartee makes Pamela Schloesser Canepa’s DETOURS IN TIME a great way to spend a few hours in both another world and another time!” Tome Tender Book blog

From recent reviews:  “Loved this book. A page turner for sure, with some unexpected twists and turns. You feel for the two main characters.” -Maria

“An enjoyable read and look forward to the next book in the series.” -Karen

“I really liked the author’s straight-forward, family-friendly style, which moved along smoothly with a steady stream of suspense, action, and dialog. Additional plot twists toward the end set the stage for a sequel, which should be equally engaging. I look forward to what lies ahead for Milt and Pinky as they seek to untangle the twisted web of time that results from their adventures.” -Amazon Review
